Canteen

Our canteen

Our canteen:

  • is operated by the P&C
  • is open on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays
  • employs one canteen staff
  • provides a menu that is consistent with the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating (“traffic light system”).

Our mission is to increase the amount of healthy nutritionally packed food that is prepared onsite and at a low cost.

To help us better understand what the school community would like from the canteen, we conducted a survey back in May and June 2019.  The results from the survey can be viewed here, which helps shape are menu every term.

Canteen menu

Sushi can be ordered on Mondays and Picnic packs available everyday. Sipahh straws are now available in a variety of flavours and frozen fruits are available for after lunch treats.

How to order

1.  Online

Online orders can be made via Quickcliq.

uniform orders for Bayswater Primary

Online orders need to be placed by 9 am. For example, if you want an order for Wednesday, the online order needs to be placed by 9 am on the Wednesday.

2.  Cash

You can also place orders with cash at the front office. Please use the brown paper bags at the left of the entrance to the front office.

Our staff

The P&C employs one casual canteen coordinator – Sue Wyatt.

Our volunteers

We have a successful school canteen because we have capable canteen staff and we offer a limited menu with a pre-ordering requirement.  However, the canteen only operates smoothly with the assistance of volunteers.

It is therefore necessary to have at least one volunteer every Friday from 10 am to 1 pm.

Please note: if you are the parent or carer of a child at the school, you do not require a Working with Children Check (WWC Check) in order to volunteer in the canteen. Other volunteers will, however, require a WWC Check.

When is it your turn?

Canteen Class Rooster

We ask that all members of the Bayswater Primary School community and their extended family consider assisting the canteen to provide this services for all students.

What is involved on the day?

The canteen staff member will advise volunteers of the tasks required. This will primarily be the preparation, distribution and sale of menu items, and the clean-up of the canteen following the day’s work.

Can I bring a child with me?

Due to safety reasons, small children (not attending school) are not allowed in the canteen when parents/carers are volunteering.
