Sustainable shopping

Buy Nothing Bayswater

Buy Nothing Bayswater is part of the Buy Nothing Project®, which uses the free platform provided by Facebook Groups. The rules are simple: “Post anything you’d like to give away, lend, or share amongst neighbours. Ask for anything you’d like to receive for free or borrow. Keep it legal. Keep it civil. No buying or selling, no trades or bartering, we’re strictly a gift economy.”

Gumtree®

Facilitating successful, safe local trade (buy/swap/sell) is Gumtree’s main priority and its ambition is to continue to grow a community marketplace where all Australians can prosper.

Freecycle®

Freecycle is a grassroots and entirely non-profit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns and neighbourhoods. It’s all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by local volunteers. Membership is free.

Op shops

There are many secondhand clothing and retail stores around Bayswater, specifically in Morley, Belmont, and Maylands.
