Loose parts play shed

Imaginature has incorporated the concept of ‘loose parts play’ – salvaged items that can be used by students for open-ended, creative play. Our loose parts include wheels, tyres, tubing, rope, fabric, shade cloth, PVC pipes, cable spools, milk crates, plastic pallets, plastic guttering and drains, timber, logs, branches, and rocks.

In 2017, to house some of these loose parts, the gardening committee erected a loose parts play shed.

Salvaged materials used:

  • the second hand shed was purchased from Gumtree
  • the shed pad was constructed using pavers donated by a BPS parent
  • the shelving was salvaged from a Bayswater resident who was disposing of his handmade shelves.
